  • DAY 5 — NUMBNESS IS A FORM OF PAIN

    December 13, 2025
Depression isn’t always crying. Sometimes it’s nothing. No feelings. No tears. No spark. Numbness is the body’s emergency brake. A survival response. You’re not broken; you’re overwhelmed. God sees numbness as injury, not rebellion. He draws near to bruised spirits.

    Day 5

“I am numb and greatly bruised…”

    —Psalm 38:8

    Narrative:

Depression isn’t always crying. Sometimes it’s nothing. No feelings. No tears. No spark.

Numbness is the body’s emergency brake. A survival response.

    You’re not broken; you’re overwhelmed.

God sees numbness as injury, not rebellion. He draws near to bruised spirits.

Supporting Scripture: Isaiah 42:3; Romans 8:26

    Questions:

    1. What can’t you feel right now?
    2. What usually brings you life that now feels distant?
    3. What is one tiny sensation you can notice today?

    Prayer:

God, I feel nothing. Meet me in this blankness. Help me trust that numbness is not the end of me. Bring back feeling slowly, safely. Amen.
