    Dear Beloveds,

    Learning To Listen

“Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.“

    —James 1:19

It’s easy to speak, but listening—really listening—takes intention. It’s not about fixing, defending, or filling the silence. It’s about presence.

When your spouse speaks, do they feel heard? Understood? Safe?

Romantic listening is eye contact, a gentle nod, a soft touch on the arm. It’s saying, “I care about what matters to you.”

Today, let your ears be a gift of grace. Put your phone down, turn toward your spouse, and lean in. There’s love in that.

    Speak Life Prompt:

Ask your spouse one question you don’t usually ask—then listen without interrupting. End with a smile, a kiss, or a loving “thank you.“

    Prayer:

“Jesus, make me a listener like You. Help me slow down, open my heart, and hear with love.”

    The badge requires your courage.

    Your marriage deserves it, too.

Let’s speak life — every single day.

Marriage is a battlefield—but you don’t fight alone. God’s got your six, and so do I.

With fierce love and holy defiance.

    Now go speak some life.

    With heart and honor,

    Tammy M. Ingram
