DAY 4 — WHEN YOU THINK THEY’RE BETTER OFF WITHOUT YOU
When you think they'd be better off without you!

When You Think They’d Be Better Off Without You!

Day 4

“He asked that he might die…”

Narrative:

Scripture does not avoid suicidal despair. Elijah, God’s prophet, reached the point where he believed death was easier for everyone, including God.

Depression lies:
“You’re a burden.”
“No one needs you.”
“You’re replaceable.”

None of that is truth. But when your brain is drowning, lies feel logical.

God doesn’t rebuke Elijah; He feeds him, lets him sleep, restores him.

God is not horrified by your thoughts. He’s moved with compassion toward them.

Supporting Scripture: Psalm 31:9–10; John 10:10

Questions:

  1. What lie about your worth keeps repeating?
  2. Who would actually be devastated if you were gone?
  3. What part of you still wants to survive?

Lord, these thoughts scare me. Please break the power of the lie that says I shouldn’t exist. Hold me. Keep me breathing. Stay close. Amen.
