Tammy Tangent Tuesdays!

Hello Beautiful, it’s Tammy Tangent Tuesdays!!!  I pray your week has started off as beautiful as you!  ♥♥♥  Just remember, when we’re courageous enough to be kind, it turns our sorrows and complaints into complete joy filled with all the love that follows!!!

This weekly challenge is dedicated to all of our beautiful and amazing senior citizens who have walked before us and have so much to teach us all through their wisdom and experiences, not to mention their daily acts of courage and kindness that is sorely forgotten!  There’s a reason the Bible talks at length about respecting our elders and listening to their divine wisdom (Proverbs 16:31; Proverbs 20:29; and especially Psalm 71:18).

This weekly challenge is to spend just a couple of hours loving on, listening to, dancing with, or even playing a competitive game of cards or other games with those who deserve so much respect and attention and, yet, receive little recognition!  I dare you to spend just 30 minutes listening intently to the marvels of their life story and you will forever be changed from just being in their presence.  These tender hearts will not only bless you with a priceless front-row seat of the beauty being lived out through their very eyes, but you will find somehow or another you lost every hand that was ever dealt from the sneaky dealer!  Hmmm…….  ♥

We honor our elders by listening and learning from just watching the twinkle in their eyes as they reminiscence about the past.  Their words of wisdom oftentimes reflect a life full of love and joy, not one of selfishness or loneliness, but one full of gratitude for having been blessed with precious time in making these beautiful memories.  What a greater joy than allowing our children to hear these positive and gentle reminders from our elders while loving on them and listening as they relive the beautiful moments of their stories with such delight and dignity.  What an innocent, yet powerful, mindset for complete gratitude and joy for the seasons past that has graced our lives!  What a legacy of love and history at its finest!  Nothing short of being touched by angels!

If you visit any convalescent hospital or long-term care facility, you will also find a common theme and one that centers around stories of love!  My friend, Wilma, speaks of her beloved in the most loving and admirable way that just reiterates how we appear to have lost the art of respect today.  She speaks of her beloved as “Darling” with such an endearing and joyful radiation.  All Wilma wants is to dance with her beloved.  She awaits enthusiastically until that day, but loves the company of anyone willing to share that next dance!  That’s kind of hard given the fact that most of the residents are in wheelchairs!

We can do so much for our elderly, like random acts of kindness through time, card games, bingo, offering resistance exercises, dancing, or just the gift of listening.  I don’t know about you, but wouldn’t it be nice to throw the literal meaning of the word “senior prom”?  I wonder what Wilma might say?  It’s definitely food for thought and one I’d love to hear from those who might be interested in helping me accomplish such a feat!

I pray you’re receiving these Tammy Tangent Tuesdays as much as the people in the community are experiencing the love being poured out.  We all long to be loved and valued; and what a better way than bringing unity within our communities through kindness and courage!!!
